Baptism **
We believe Jesus loves
it when we respond to his
command to be
baptised. For more information please contact the church office or
one of the pastors.
**
When being baptised
it’s great when people tell their
stories. But if
“making a speech” scares you, we can always find another way
for you to talk about your commitment to the Lord, so don’t be
put off.
** Next Baptismal
service will be September 14th
Accommodation
needed The Lapworth family are hoping to be in Reading from 23rd
- 31st August. Is there anyone who will be away for any of that time,
who would like them to house-sit, or anyone who could have them to
stay? Contact Paul and Ruth Via the church office
Welcome
to new members Heather Francis, Gloria Small, Trina Tan,
Jane Beckett, Angela (Yin-Chi) Shen
Door Knocking round
Newtown If you would like to join a team of people who are
knocking on people’s doors in Newtown introducing the church then
meet up in the Warehouse Foyer 12.30 pm each Sunday. The plan is to
meet briefly at 12.30 pm to plan, return to church at 5pm, pray and
then go out to Newtown returning in time for the evening service.
Don’t worry about lack of experience - you’ll work in teams and
get some training. For more details contact Debbie Lambie
ALPHA Our Alpha
course will be starting this September, with an introductory meal on
Thursday 18th September, 7.30 pm in the Warehouse. Alpha is an
opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed
setting over a meal with some thought-provoking weekly talks and
discussions. Interested in coming, inviting a friend or helping out?
Let Ali Crooks know or tell Stewart in the office.

An
opportunity Ever
thought of getting a new perspective on the congregation
to
serve at
church services? How about becoming an OHP operator!
the
Lord We
need some morning and evening. It’s not onerous and won’t be
indefinite, if only because the OHP’s will become redundant when
the church refurbishment happens. Most importantly, it’s an
opportunity to serve the Lord. Contact John Fung. (contact
details from church office)
Note from Peter
Lowman. Peter
is having a sabbatical until the autumn. He asks for prayer for his
study projects and for a fresh meeting with God.
Place in the Sun will
be having a National costume/dance/song morning on Thursday 14th
August. Can you help us or do you know anyone who would like to take
part? Please contact Mary Fairbairn as soon as possible. Thank you
Exciting opportunity
for accountants!!
Do you want to share the
excitement of seeing first
hand how God provides for
our financial needs?
I am keen to share the excitement with
someone who can
help me and the finance
team manage the church's finances.
Specifically I am looking
for someone to:
- oversee the day to day supervision of the
management accounts on Sage
- produce monthly accounts from
Sage
Note this does not mean that you will post the accounts
onto Sage but manage the process.
Experience of Sage and
double entry bookkeeping would be a big advantage.
To
address common concerns:
-
This is not a deacon role and so you would not be required to attend
church council meetings
- You do not have to present the accounts
at church meetings - I am happy doing this.
If you are
interested or have any questions please do give me a call or give
your details to the church office, I would be pleased to talk with
you.
Thanks

could you return them as soon as possible, as they will be needed for
