Church Business

Communion For those unable to eat wheat products, there will be small portions of rice cake available as the bread is passed round. Please do not take this unless you cannot take the bread. The communion wine is non-alcoholic, 100% grape juice.

John Archer coming to the Warehouse On Saturday 7th June we welcome top Christian illusionist John Archer to the Warehouse (www.john-archer.com) John will put on a fantastic show of illusion and sleight of hand and give his testimony at the same time - it’s a great night to ask your friends and neighbours to. There will be a full dinner served first at 7.30 pm. Then John will go on stage. In order to cater properly for the dinner we need to know if you are intending to come. Don’t worry if it doesn’t work out, but if you hope to come please put your name down along with how many folk you would like to bring - sign up sheet on the Welcome Desk.

Interested in helping children read and serving a local primary school? Want some help and training? CLASS (RCN initiative to link churches and schools) is holding a free training session for volunteers from churches who want to help kids read. Enjoy Cycling? ****There will be a family cycling afternoon on Saturday 13th July, on a traffic free and flat route suitable for all ages, with options for older ones to go further and/or to do some serious mountain biking. KidzCamp 2008 Parents of Kidz coming to KidzCamp are invited to a Parents’ Evening at Church on Monday 9th June at 8pm, to meet some of the leaders, get some important information and answers to any questions or concerns you may have etc. Letters with more information about KidzCamp are available today. See Mike Croall after the morning service or pick them up from your groups this week.

JAC Detached Youth Work News The JAC Newtown Team has been going out for almost 3 months and is starting to engage with young people in the area. We still need volunteers to help with our detached sessions on Friday night from 6.00-8.00pm. If you would like to learn more contact Chris Elsdon or Ollie March (email address from church office). External Events and Opportunities
Volunteer required for a Home based Criminal Records Bureau Administrator for Causeway Prospects. The CRB Administrator will manage the disclosure process from liaison with church based volunteers to sorting and recording disclosures. Although home based, the volunteer will be supported by the Causeway office team in Reading. The post is unpaid but all expenses incurred for phone calls, stationery etc. will be reimbursed. Reading Churches Golf Day At Caversham Heath on Friday 27th June. Tee off times from 10.00am in aid of Christian Community Action. Entry fee £35.00 which should be sent to John Mann by 13th June.
